Usage
The everyday pair. One strength across the whole lens, for driving, watching and getting about.
The strength changes gradually down the lens, so you look up to see across the room and down to read. There is no line, so nobody can tell they are not ordinary glasses.
Plain lenses for anyone who does not need a prescription. Choose these for blue light protection, or lenses that darken in the sun, in a frame you like.
Usage
Nothing is made up for you. Sunglasses arrive with the sun lenses you can see in the photographs. An optical frame arrives with clear display lenses, which hold its shape and show it off but are not made to see through, and which your own optometrist takes out and replaces.
Real lenses rather than the display ones the frame ships with, clear, with nothing added beyond that. The choice for somebody who wants the frame and does not need anything from the lens itself.
Phones, computers and televisions give off blue light, and a long day in front of one leaves plenty of people with tired eyes. These lenses cut it down. Clear to look at, so they wear like ordinary glasses.
The blue light lens above, which also darkens when you step outside and clears again indoors. One pair instead of two, if you are in and out all day.
A yellow tint that lifts contrast against oncoming headlights, and the same darkening in sunlight as above. Made for anyone who drives at both ends of the day.
Prescription
Copy these straight off your prescription, exactly as they are written.
OD and OS
Your right eye and your left eye. Some prescriptions write R and L instead.
Sphere (SPH)
The main strength of the lens. A minus figure means short sighted, a plus figure long sighted. Plano, or PL, means no strength at all in that eye.
Cylinder (CYL) and Axis
These two correct astigmatism, where the eye is shaped slightly more like a rugby ball than a football. The cylinder is how much, the axis is which way round it sits. They always appear together, so if you have one you will have the other. Plenty of prescriptions have neither.
Add
The extra strength for reading, on reading, bifocal and progressive lenses. Usually the same figure for both eyes.
A photograph or a PDF, up to 10 MB. Your prescription is kept privately and is only ever seen by the people making your lenses.

The distance between the centres of your pupils, in millimetres, which is how we centre the lenses in front of your eyes. It is usually written on your prescription. If it is not, leave it blank and we will confirm it with you. Tick 2 PD if your prescription gives a separate figure for each eye.
